It’s that time of year: Winter 2009 anime preview!

Gia over at Anime Vice has compiled a list of the upcoming Winter 2009 season. A wonderful way to pick which shows you are going to torrent…. I mean buy on American DVD two years from now… the list includes the studio, director, and a plot summery.

The shows that caught my eye are the second half of the new Slayers season, Slayers EVOLUTION-R, and a fantasy series where pollution has corrupted the world Chrome-Shelled Regios. Unfortunately most of the upcoming series are sequels making it hard for new Anime fans to join the ranks of us heartless thieves.

  • New Ippo looks good.
    Ride Back looks good.
    White Album looks like a really cool title/idea was wasted on a run of the mill harem anime. I thought it was going to be a kickass Beatles anime for a second. Nope.
    With good gritty Sci-Fi anime being rare, Regios might be worth a looksee.
    I might check out NuSlayers. I'm a bigger fan of 70s and 80s anime than I am of 90s, so it's not really warming up to me on the nostalgia ticket. However, there's enough buzz about it that I'll give it a shot someday.

    Funny how looking for a job and blogging/networking has really kiboshed my sit down and watch anime time... I haven't even started watching anything from the summer/fall season. =D Hoo boy.

    Thanks for the link :) I'm definitely looking forward to the new Slayers season. There's been a LOT of buzz on message boards where people talk about whether the new story is going to be typical, reasonably light Slayers fare, or if it's going to turn rather dark. Either way, I want to see!
