Mario Kart Wii has landed!
The gamestop launch party was a bit disappointing, but I’m glad that I picked the game up at midnight:

First impressions:
The game is pure joy. After testing out the multiplayer and basic features of the game with Carmine (unofficial review staff) I brought it home and jumped online. The game is Mario Kart, the mechanics are the same classic well built arcade racing game. But it’s the slight improvements that make the game a fresh look at the series. The new tracks are interactive and fun to play, there really isn’t any of the tracks that aren’t fun although some are frustrating. Multiplayer gives a bit more competitive edge by dividing everything into teams. I had more fun in the half hour playing battle team based than I ever did with Double Dash. Online was lag free with 12 players and Nintendo worked some fun little features into the game like seamless transitioning new players into your current matches and showing where everyone you are playing with is from on a world map.
Just from the first little tastes I know I’ll be playing a lot of this game and recommend it to any one who has a Wii and definitely any fans of the series.
Gameplay videos and more substantial review to come.
